This gorgeous Navajo saddle blanket was woven by master artisan, Virginia Bia.

 Initially purchased by the owner in 1985 at the Hubbell Trading Post in Ganado, Arizona, directly from Virginia Bia, who said, "the blanket is modern, most similar to a Mexican Saltillo diamond pattern. Unlike most sarapes and blankets, the pad is made from a very dense, coarse spun wool". The blanket is a combination of red, black, and white wool, with a reverse color pattern on the opposite side. There is a beautiful turquoise stripe down the center of the pad on both sides.

 Pad measures 49" long x 29" wide.

Delfina can provide provenance for this saddle blanket and we will be including all relevant paperwork proving the blanket's history to the buyer.
In preparation for sale, Delfina had the blanket professionally cleaned and examined by an expert appraiser of Navajo weavings to ensure the saddle pad was being accurately represented as a Navajo weaving. Delfina Saddlery guarantees this beautiful saddle blanket is a 100% authentic Navajo saddle blanket/pad. Similar saddle blankets made by the Navajo sell for $2,000 - $50,000, depending on size, pattern, and quality.
The previous owner had the pad stitched onto a traditional bareback pad. There are two leather tabs with dee rings attached near the rear of the blanket, and the grab strap from the bareback pad is easily accessible when riding. A single-point attachment girth can be attached to the nylon billets on either side. The padding has been removed in two areas approximately near where a rider's knee would be, enabling the rider to have a better feel of the horse underneath her. They also give the rider a small 'perch' on which to prop their knee to assist in maintaining their balance while riding. On the bottom of this bareback pad, there is some mild discoloration in two areas (shown in photographs next to a penny for size reference). These areas do not impact the Navajo pad in any way, nor do they affect the overall performance of either pad.
The bareback pad is attached in 3 small areas and was installed in such a way that it would be quite simple to detach the two pads without damaging the navajo pad on top.
The buyer can request that the two pads and/or the leather tabs with dees be removed prior to shipping. If you would like any leather reinforcements added to the billets, grab strap, or sides of the navajo blanket, please reach out to us after purchase to discuss options and costs.

Returns Policy

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
